Report on Cassilis
History of Cassilis

Cassilis is located in Charles Town, West Virginia.  It was built in 1834 by Andrew Kennedy of brick made on the property.  In 1853 Washington Irving stayed at this home.  William Makepeace Thackery also visited Cassilis.  The same family has lived on the property for many years.  The house has very high ceilings on both the first and second floors.  The house has a few of the orginal pieces of furniture and has not been renovated.  There has been reported activity in the house thought to be related to a relative who died recently.  We made two visits to Cassilis in the fall of 2005.
Pictures of Cassilis
The slaves quarters were in the basement.  These four pictures are of the basement.  The fireplace is where they cooked.  The room with the wooden slates could be locked.  The fourth picture has some very old hams hanging in it.
Results of Investigation
There were 4 digital voice recorders set up throughout the house.  Nothing was captured on these.  A video camera with Night Shot was set up in the basement and the second floor, but nothing was captured on it.  We did get some interesting pictures.

Gourmet's Corner
After our investigation at Cassilis, we went to the Mountain View Diner in Charles Town, West Virginia.  The Mountain View Diner is owned by Mr Petropouleas and Mr. Macheras.  They have a huge menu of very tasty dishes, including burgers, steaks, seafood, Italian and Greek items such as raviolis, veal, and gyros.  They have incredible pies and cakes.  All the helpings are generous size.  We love this restaurant and we have rated it 4 1/2 ghosts out of a possible 5.
Go to their website for directions, it is open 24 hours a day, perfect for ghost hunters!
